Sweet Cabin Life

HARMONY

We have six whitetail deer that come to visit us almost nightly. We sprinkle sweet apple flavored deer corn under the trees by the driveway. They hear us shake the can, they smell the sweet smell and they come out of the trees in numbers.

It has even gotten to the point that if we go out and open the garage door, regardless of the time of day, they instantly appear in hopes of a snack.

It has totally amazed us how the other animals; cardinals, blue jays, rabbits and squirrels; always show up when the deer come to eat. They stand next to each other in unison and share the bounty. There is never any squabbling or ill-will towards one another. They never argue over territory or portions. They are kindly, respectful.

We love to sit on the front swing of an evening and watch the interactions of the group. There is just one word that always comes to mind and as I think of it I snuggle closer to my husband by my side and I smile.

Harmony!
